Tru Identity Photography Blog bio picture
  • Welcome to Tru Identity Photography+Designs

My name is Stefani Peterson, I am the lead photographer and owner of Tru Identity Photography+Designs.

I began Tru Identity in 2008, kind of by accident... I was a dance/drill team director and first grade teacher for three years when I decided to pursue my dream of becoming a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader. I made the team and decided to put teaching aside (I could always go back to it) while I embraced this amazing opportunity of being a DCC. During this time, I bought my first Canon camera, learned the ins-and-outs of photography and shooting in manual, and started photographing anything and everything (and everyone) that would let me. And as they say, the rest is history!

I love getting to know my clients and sharing in their special events! If you would like to talk further about your wedding photography or special event that needs to be remembered, feel free to shoot me an email by clicking the Contact link above.

    Thank you!
    Stefani

Happy Birthday TRU Identity!!

Pull up your rocking chair and I’ll tell you a story… a story about the day you were born… ok, so not the day YOU were born… that would be kind of creepy … but the day my business was born… TRU Identity! A year ago today, I was in between practices and rehearsals for the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders and noticed I had a little bit of free time… very little;)I had taught elementary school for the last three years so I wanted something I could do during the day and then have dance rehearsal at night… I mentioned photography to my husband, well, being the sweet guy he is went out and bought me a camera… Canon Rebel XT… I thought it was soooo cool at the time! I brought with with me every where I went and took photos of everyone and anything I could… Realizing I didn’t really know what I was doing, I studied and practiced with my camera… learned how to actually use “all those buttons” as people say, and developed an eye for when I liked and how to go about seeing and getting my images that way. The name TRU Identity came from my woman’s devotional Bible, True Identity, Finding Who You are in Christ. I thought it was PERFECT! That’s exactly what I want to do with my photos… capture who you are… in love, in life. I have realized this year that beauty is soooo different to everyone, often the ones I choose as my favorites are different from the ones you will choose. You can look at them with an artistic eye, judgmental eye, discerning eye, but the images I aim to get are the very rare ones that reveal your soul and show your emotion at the exact moment and when you look back at your images you are not only seeing that moment but your heart jumps a little and you truly remember it… that’s when I know I did a good job.

And now, with my bright shiny new 5D and soon to be a 5D Mark ll (AHH! Little squeal there, sorry!) I have shot 14 weddings and hundreds of portrait sessions in my FIRST YEAR!!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for trusting in me the most important days of your life and most precious moments. I am where I am because of God’s grace, your value in my work, your friendship, and belief. I believe we meet people for a reason. My prayer for you is that you are not alone, God loves you and will never leave you, no matter who you are or your history, He has an amazing journey for you, if you ask and let Him show you. I know I have taken away new things from each one of you and I hope you have gained something through knowing me as well.

God Bless!

Love,

Stefani
